3 Common Types of Truck Accidents

Truck crashes cause thousands of deaths and hundreds-of-thousands of injuries annually. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports there were 333,000 large trucks involved in traffic crashes in 2012. In these crashes, 3,921 people were killed and 104,000 people were injured.  Truck accidents are more likely than car crashes to result in injuries or fatalities occurring because of the large size of trucks.

Unfortunately, the type of truck crash can also make a difference in the likelihood of injuries or deaths occurring. There are certain kinds of accidents that are much more likely to occur when a truck is involved in collision and there are some types of truck accidents that only happen when a truck is involved.  Truck drivers need to be aware of some of the special dangers they face because of the style and design of their vehicles and must exercise caution to avoid common types of truck crashes.
